Kitty Garman

Kitty Garman was Epstein’s third child. She was born in 1926, while Kathleen was living with her son Theo and her sister Helen in a one room studio. As space was limited and money was scarce, Kathleen sent Kitty to live with her mother, Marjorie Garman, in Herefordshire. Kathleen made occasional weekend visits, and Kitty would sometimes go to London to stay with her mother, but they did not spend much time together until Kitty was in her teens.

Kitty married the artist Lucien Freud in 1948 and they had two daughters. This marriage ended in divorce and Kitty remarried in 1957. Her second husband, Wynne Godley, was a musician at the time of their marriage but subsequently became an economist.
