Epstein met Kathleen Garman in 1921, in the Harlequin restaurant in London. It is possible that Kathleen already knew who Epstein was, as he was quite famous by this time. They immediately began a relationship that lasted until Epstein’s death and produced three of Epstein’s five children. Epstein and Kathleen married in 1955.
After Epstein’s death in 1959, Kathleen Epstein and Sally Ryan worked together to create the Garman Ryan collection, which is housed at The New Art Gallery Walsall.
